The question of identity is not easy to answer. What makes us who we are? The presented body of work is an exploration of my identity and how my perspective of self flows/changes/reshapes depending on the circumstance or people that I am with. My goal is that my audience discovers the real me through my artwork. I express various sides of myself that I want people to see so they may be able to understand what I feel. I am much more that the observable characteristics. The theme of identity is very vague which allows me to explore a lot of aspects of myself. I explore parts of my identity that I define as “bad”. They were easier to find. In addition, I also wanted to show elements that are more positive because I’m not only defined by one side of myself but all of them. The process of finding that which is hidden is challenging. I took a retrospective approach of journeying back in time through my memories to feel the feelings that were there and brought them back to the present in the form of my artwork. My artwork helped me express the deeper/hidden parts of my identity that are not visible.

I used different mediums for my artwork. To immerse the audience I decided to use the installa- tion by recreating my room, however, with the same purpose I use 2D print with my work “judgment”. I did one work in 2D animation, and two of my artworks use painting. “Shy” uses a lot of materials, clay, a laser cutter, a projector, adobe illustrator, and glaze. I also used objects such as scales and balloons to compose my artwork. I used photoshop to create three of my artworks, “my life awaits me elsewhere”, “Judgment” and “Unconventional”. All of the choices I made concerning the medium helped to highlight and emphasize the meaning of the artwork.

The artworks will be arranged in a certain way to create a connection and story through their continuity. Colour is the centre of my exhibition. The colour can be absent or very present in my artwork. I use this element to choose the order in which I want the audience to discover my works. However, two of my artworks need to be located in an enclosed space for the representation of my room and dark for “shy”. This will cut the continuity between my artworks. I would like to start with “focus” and the scale. Both use colours but also more neutral colours to be able to reinforce the brighter colours. The next artwork will be “My life awaits me elsewhere” because I played with the colours in photoshop to be able to emphasize the meaning of this artwork. Most of the elements are in colour, the only one that is in grey is me. Next, “Unconventional” and the abstract creation use a lot of colours. They are the most colourful artwork that I created, however, I will end this main part with “judgment”. I didn't change the colour of this artwork which means that they are all-natural and this is why it's the final work. It will create a clear connection with reality for the audience. It will highlight the meaning of all my artwork and their link with reality and my own life. For the two left artwork, I will separate the room in two. “Shy” needs to be on a wall because of the haiku that uses a projector. The second artwork will be inside a cordoned-off dark space that will represent a wall to separate the two artworks and create a close space to represent the place of my artwork, my bedroom.
